Makeover To A Brighter Kitchen

Dark knotty pine makes way for bright, shiny surfaces

The knotty pine walls of this kitchen made the small space look and feel dark.  Wanting to keep the integrity of this period older home, the owners opted to update the pine walls with a coat of fresh light mustard colored paint.  New cabinetry and countertops updated the space, topped off by modern new stainless appliances.  The space was also made brighter by applying the white tile backsplash.  The peninsula counter was added for much needed functionality.  Leimkuehler Construction tweaked the homeowner’s original design to include the oak bookcase that displays the owner’s many cookbooks and placed them at her fingertips.  The original plank flooring was restored with sanding, stain and varnish, resulting in a rich color of wood that keeps the space light.
