Tile Flooring – Something For Every Room

Remodeling

While tile floors are still a practical favorite for kitchens and baths, the variety of colors and shapes and sizes now make them work for almost any space.  Here the slate-look tile was laid in a large living room space that flowed into a library nook.  The same tile transitioned on into the bathroom, and even up the walls surrounding the tub.  When used in a very large space, it is often a good idea to change up the pattern by laying  a contrasting tile style or color somewhere inside the room.  With this slate-look tile, the large spaces were laid on the diagonal, with a row of straight tiles around the perimeter of the rooms.  A row of smaller rectangular tiles were laid in the doorway threshold as a transition to the next room.  This technique helps reduce the risk of breaking tiles in areas of minor elevation changes.
